Security, Privacy & Compliance

Your data is protected with bank-level security. Here's how we keep you safe.

256-Bit Encryption

All data is encrypted using the same technology banks use to protect your information.

Secure Data Storage

We never store your full SSN. Only the last 4 digits are kept for verification.

Read-Only Access

We can only view your credit data—we cannot make changes or transactions.

Your Consent Required

We only access your credit information with your explicit permission.

Why We Need Your SSN

To Access Your Credit Reports

Credit bureaus require the last 4 digits of your SSN to verify your identity and pull your credit data.

How We Protect It

We encrypt your SSN immediately and never store the full number. It's only used once during the initial connection.

What Happens If There's a Breach?

We have a zero-leakage architecture. Even if our systems were compromised, hackers couldn't access your SSN because we don't store it.

Consent & Monitoring Explained

What You're Consenting To

  • Accessing your credit reports from major bureaus
  • Monitoring your credit score for changes
  • Providing personalized recommendations
  • Alerting you about credit activity

You Always Have Control

You can revoke consent and delete your account at any time. We'll immediately stop accessing your credit data and delete all stored information within 30 days.

Credit Blum Is Not for Collecting PII or Storing Sensitive Data

This is a demonstration platform. In a production environment, you would need:

  • • SOC 2 Type II certification for handling financial data
  • • GLBA (Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act) compliance
  • • Proper partnership agreements with credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian, TransUnion)
  • • Regular security audits and penetration testing

Frequently Asked Questions

Will checking my credit score hurt my credit?

No. When you check your own credit through Credit Blum, it is a "soft inquiry" that does not affect your score.

How often is my credit data updated?

We update your credit score weekly and your full credit report monthly, or whenever significant changes occur.
